The internet is one of the most significant invention of the modern world. Without it people would be unable to communicate at instant as we do now and ideas for innovation would receive less attention. Imagine spending hours at the library looking for information that can be found by the in seconds through a search engine. That is how students used to study in the past! Thus the internet is used for many purposes and can be helpful for finding information for research. I encourage you to take advantage of the resources I added onto our class site for your success. However, one must remember to use the internet with caution and wisely. There are risks that come with using the web that can cause distractions for students such as social media or temptation for plagiarism. There are also risks of exposing personal too much personal information on sites that can be accessed by other people which may produce cyberbullying. In that note always be cautious of the type of information you write and or of websites that ask for information that seem suspicious (example: social security). To prevent sensitive information from getting into the wrong hands it is necessary to have a good anti-virus software before using the web. One way to know which sites are reliable make sure they end with .gov, .edu, and .org. If anyone has questions on whether a site they are using is reliable or not ask your parents or send me a link to my email to verify. The following links contain information for internet safety and how to avoid plagiarism which begins by knowing how to cite works in your assignments and research papers.
